Winter Formal 2024!

By Rory Grant

The 2024 East Side Winter Formal was ballin’. Or at least that was the theme. While most old school dances usually ask for a nice set of heels or flats, this year’s winter formal wanted everyone to stand out in their coolest sneakers. And as the clock struck 7:00 pm on Friday, February 9th, everyone got onto the dance floor. Although many students sadly chose not to attend, those who did(estimated at about 60) took full advantage.

Line dancing, dance circles, and interpretive dance were happening all around me, and despite what some would call a fairly cramped dance space, the design team took full advantage of the space they had, creating a really vibrant atmosphere and a super cool background for photos. There was hardly a dull moment during my time at the scene, as balloons flew around the room. Conversation was always happening as music flew around the room.

Although the music was admittedly not to everybody’s taste, the DJ made sure to play a few songs that got everyone’s attention. In my hour on the scene, I could tell how much our awesome staff worked to ensure everyone was having a great time.

And for just $6, you weren’t just getting a dance but a whole dinner as well, which was an awesome thing the school did. One 10th grader said, ”The food is delicious!” For a fun hour or two, plus all the great food, it was a night to remember.
